Visit Elephant Point

Jul 26, 2019

Elephant Point is an exclusive estate that borders with the legendary Kruger National Park, which means its location alone, leaves a great deal to be enjoyed and experienced by guests. Only a five-hour drive from the bustling city of Johannesburg, or a short 45-minute flight away, the estate is without question the ultimate destination for nature lovers who need a break from the urban jungle.

The best way to experience the bush, and indeed the Kruger National Park, of course, is with a game drive and one at night is even more exhilarating. A personalised experience can be booked through the lodge at Elephant Point – and there is no skimping on 5-star service here. A group package is the ideal way to discover the natural setting as the sun goes down, with the comfort of food, drinks and a warm blanket for the open vehicle, if the weather calls for it. While there are no guarantees on what you might encounter on a game drive, it’s quite possible that you may find the odd leopard or two waking from their daily rest or wild dogs begin their winding passage through the park.

The hippos who are popular residents at Elephant Point, because of its proximity to the Sabie river, come out from the ravines to find grazing areas, and antelope also continue their search for food. Giraffes settle in for the evening, as do the zebras and impala, however, elephants are quite active, walking through the night or feeding. After a long and relaxing game drive in the Kruger, the ranger will drive you back to Elephant Point’s brand new - and very impressive - boma facility, positioned on the banks of the river. It is here that you can quietly look out on the breath-taking beauty that surrounds you.

Enjoy the sunset with a carefully crafted cocktail by one of the friendly staff. Relax, put your feet up and wait for your own private chef to grill you a perfect streak. This is the ideal time to re-tell your game drive experience and share what you have seen. After the sun has gone down, the fires are lit and the Kruger Park comes to life. Listen to the sounds of lion calling and warnings shared among impala and elephants. And don’t be surprised if you receive a visit from the Park’s elephants or if a pride of lions sets up camp just a few metres from your dining table.

This all sounds idyllic – and it is. An elite few can own a piece of Elephant Point all to themselves. Options include whole ownership or fractional ownership. If you don’t wish to own a cabin you are able to rent through Legacy. In all, however, this remarkable wildlife experience can be something that you can experience on a regular basis. And what could be more restorative than a sojourn among nature, and the wildlife that Africa is so famous for: http://bit.ly/30QWKuB
