The term “chemical peel” may sound intimidating to some who are used to traditional facials, however there are several different types of chemical peels that address skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scar management, dry skin, acne and other blemishes. Chemical peels remove dead skin cells in order to allow newer skin to regenerate itself. Essentially, it is a form of a very effective, fast acting exfoliation.

Most Peelings are a type of chemical peeling using naturally derived alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) as their main components, such as:

• Lactic (derived from milk)
• Tartaric (derived from grapes)
• Citric (dderived from citrus fruits)
• Malic (derived from apples)
• Glycolic acids (derived from sugar cane)

What to expect?

Applied to the skin, these fruit acids, are extremely effective without unnecessarily straining or stressing the skin, and provide an intensive regeneration of the skin (and, yes, younger-looking skin).

During use of PROFESSIONAL 10% AHA Peeling, a slight tingling and reddening is to be expected immediately after application. These are intentional skin reactions that usually disappear by the end of the treatment and require no downtime. During use of PROFESSIONAL 20% – 30% AHA Peelings, the skin may react immediately with tingling, a slight burning sensation, a feeling of warmth and slight redness may be visible. Additional sensations may include feelings of dryness and tightness and these reactions are usually subside immediately or after 1 – 2 days as long as the professional recommendations of your Spa Therapists are followed.

You will achieve ideal treatment success if you avoid:

on the day of the peel: - no make-up

• 2 – 3 days: - self-tanning lotions
• 2 – 3 days: - visits to a swimming pool
• 2 – 3 days: - heavy sweating due to physical activity, steam baths, sauna
• 1 – 2 days: - mechanical or AHA peelings
• 7 days: - hair removal in the treated area (waxing, sugaring)
