A night of fashion, beauty and grace.

The Windhoek Country Club Resort formed the perfect backdrop for the glamour filled night of the 38th annual Miss Namibia pageant. From the 12 gorgeous contestants, Selma Kamanya emerged as a favourite and was announced as the 2018 winner.

I want to thank the Miss Namibia Pageant and organization, for being so welcoming and so kind to me throughout this entire journey. Other winners include Clarise van der Vyver and Kabuba Namukokoba who were announced as first and second princess, while Alexis van der Merwe and Wilri van Taak made it to the top 5. Miss Van Der Vyver also won the talent and public speaking awards, with Miss Namukokoba winning the general knowledge title.

Contestants cascaded down the runway with stunning outfits by local designers Paul van Zyl, Cobus Möller, Develd Diergaardt, Wilma Kawedi and Lourens Loux Gebhardt. The event was hosted by businessman and media personality Tshoopara ‘Chopsi’ Tshoopara, and included exciting performances by Jean Carlo, who wowed the crowd with his hit song ‘Take Me Away’ and his vibrant dance moves, Namibian artist Freeda, and the Bullet Traditional group, who recently performed in Brazil. Other artists included the Swakopmund group, Marvin Sanzila, The Elements and Monique English, who recently won Female Artist of the year at the 2017 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs). Selma (21) is currently an Economics student at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and will go on to represent Namibia at the 2018 Miss Universe Competition at the end of this year. Her focus is on climate change, education and women empowerment.

Windhoek Country Club Resort has been a proud host of the Miss Namibia pageant for almost 20 years and also played host to the Miss Universe Pageant in 1995. We would like to congratulate Selma and wish her all the love and luck during her reign.
