Meet Gabriele Ihrybauer-Elder, our Deputy General Manger at DAVINCI Hotel & Suites.

We sat down with Gabi and asked her a few questions, so our valued clients and guests could get to know this wonderful lady a little better

1. Tell us something unusual about yourself, that no one would know, but that others would find interesting "I am fluent in German and English which makes it wonderful for me to get to interact with local and International German speaking guests"

2. What is your favourite colour and why? "That depends on what we are talking about- I love the different greens you see in plants. When it comes to clothing, I love blues! Any colourful artwork or décor items with interesting patterns also tends to catch my eye"

3. What is the one thing that always cheers you up and brightens your day? "Seeing the care-free joy, energy and zest for life our little Corgi, Barkley, has and loves to share with anyone willing to run around with him."

4. What are your interests and favourite hobbies when you are not working? "When I am not at work, I love spending quality time with my husband, family and friends; for me, this means “food for the soul” conversations, laughter, a good glass of wine in hand, scrumptious food and relaxation. I also love spending time outdoors- be that gardening or hiking in nature, being out in the African bush. Rainy weather calls for curling up on the couch with a captivating book and a big slab of chocolate! Other interests include being creative (drawing, painting) and cooking up a storm in the kitchen, trying out new recipes"

5. What is your favourite quote or motto? "LIFE is what happens when you are making other plans."

6. What do you love most about your job? "I love the versatility my job offers- no day is the same! The interaction with different people, be that guests or team members, is always rewarding and often quite stimulating in the sense that I am continuously learning new things about people. Guiding and nurturing young talent in the industry is amazing and so fulfilling when you see colleagues growing and exceling in their roles. Passion is what drives this industry and we all need to have that fire in our hearts to pass on and to keep on keeping on"
