ALTO Gourmet
Enter a world where fantastic flavours, fine wine and gourmet cuisine collide. The Michelangelo Hotel’s Piccolo Mondo Gourmet Dinner is a delight for the discerning palate.
“Our gourmet dinners are popular with guests and diners who are looking for an exclusive dining experience with something unique. Each course is prepared with the South African wine selected for the month in mind, so that the flavours of the food and the wine complement each other,” reveals Heinrich Oberholzer, food and beverage manager at the Michelangelo Hotel.”
Each dinner features an incredible five course meal with a perfectly paired wine of the month. This month’s dinner is indeed a special one as Alto Wine Estate celebrates 100 years of winemaking this year. Few wineries ever attain, and retain, the level of trust Alto has. It is enjoyed around the world whether at fine dining restaurants or at home with friends.
This month’s menu includes dishes such as thyme and almond crusted beef fillet paired with Alto Rouge 2016 and traditional Mulligatawny soup Shiraz 2017 among others. “Fun, sophistication, exclusivity and excellent food come together for our gourmet dinners. Chef Trevor joins the group to regale them with his stories and to explain why each wine has been paired with the course they have been served. It really is a gourmet experience unlike any other,” Oberholzer explains.
